Week 18
12 August 2007

Mangemangeroa Estuary

In a valley, bordering an eastern suburb, lies Mangemangeroa, a tidal estuary.
The photos that follow were taken late afternoon, at the edge of Broomfields Point
Reserve and on the opposite side of the Mangemangeroa Walkway

Quote for the week

When gifts are given to me through my camera, I accept them graciously.  - Minor White

Through the trees, this part of the estuary looks like a lake

Looking towards Motukaraka Island

Reflections of houses on the opposite side of the estuary

Double take - a white faced heron patiently waiting for food

More reflections and with the sun moving in fast behind the hills, the trees
reflect colours and shades which makes this picture look like a painting

Blue tinted mountains as a backdrop to anchored boats

Blue water meets blue sky

Strange looking clouds above a disappearing sun

A common sight this time of the year is to see the setting sun colour the sky .....

.... with orange
